Mitsuru Cafe, Los Angeles

image

Way before RIF even existed, I’ve been coming to Little Tokyo and it definitely wasn’t for shoes. I go for these things. I have no idea what their traditional name is, but I’ve been eating them since I was a kid. The only way I know how to explain it, is as a pancake with red beans inside. A Red Bean McGriddle. Delicious. Next time you’re at RIF, make sure to take the 1 minute walk and pick some of these up at Mitsuru Cafe, and if you’re not sure what to order, just point at what everyone is gawking at in the window.

Eat Good. Stay Fresh.

More pics after the jump.

Rabbit Season

image

With much anticipation, the Year of the Rabbit Air Force 1 will officially release in the states this Saturday, January 29 at select Nike retailers including UNDFTD Los Angeles for a price of $250. In this case, slow and steady will only result in missing out on these. Don’t sleep.

Coming Home

image

For any sneaker lover that has had to move (or if you just push weight like Shoe Wolf), I’m sure the picture above is pretty familiar. Without a doubt, the hardest thing about moving is ALWAYS moving the shoes. Why do we do this to ourselves? This is what has kept me busy the past few days, but I promise tons of new posts are on the way. Stay tuned.

Follow up: No shoes were harmed during the duration of the trip. Thank you for your concern.

Vegas Favorites - Food Truck: Slider Truck

image

Vegas Favorites is a set of posts highlighting all of the local spots around Las Vegas that have kept my stomach happy during these past few years. Thank you.

There is no question that California has the MOST gourmet food trucks in the country, but Las Vegas is without a doubt home to one of the BEST. I’m of course talking about none other than the Slider Truck. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, and they are constantly adding different mystery burgers daily. Make sure to follow them on twitter, so you don’t miss out. Best “mini” burgers I’ve ever had.

5 Questions With Food With Sole: Franalations

image

Whether you love him or hate him, you can’t deny the impact Franalations has had on the sneaker culture. He may not have been the first to do video sneaker reviews, and he definitely won’t be the last, but he saw a void in the game, and he filled it. And tons of videos, millions of views and thousands of YouTube subscribers later, he’s still doing his thing, grinding harder than ever. His videos have connected to countless people across the country, and seem to be the missing link that has introduced the world of sneaker collecting to a brand new generation. Fran was kind enough to be the 1st of a new segment on the site called “5 Questions With Food With Sole.” Check out the interview after the jump!

Vegas Favorites - Hawaiian: Aloha Kitchen

image

Vegas Favorites is a set of posts highlighting all of the local spots around Las Vegas that have kept my stomach happy during these past few years. Thank you.

This behemoth of a meal above is the Adobo Fried Rice Omelette. Yes, there is a whole serving of Fried Rice in that egg sleeping bag. And not just plain fried rice, ADOBO fried rice. The food has always been amazing here, whether it’s this omelete or SPAM and eggs, but the friendships I’ve made with the family that runs the place is what I appreciate the most. Great people serving simple and delicious food.

Vegas Favorites - Sushi: Kaizen

image

Vegas Favorites is a set of posts highlighting all of the local spots around Las Vegas that have kept my stomach happy during these past few years. Thank you.

Decent sushi places are a dime a dozen nowadays, but there are very few that I consider personal favorites. Kaizen is one of those places. I have this thing for crispy wontons with spicy tuna and Kaizen has one of the best versions of it that I’ve ever tried, called Yummy Yummy Crispy. Great overall vibe and great service. You can’t go wrong.

Dickies x Converse Collection

image

My only question is, Why did it take this long for this collaboration to happen? Being born and raised in Southern California, Dickies and Chucks go together like bacon and everything, so it feels only natural for this pairing to happen. In addition to this Chuck Taylor All Star Low, a Chuck Taylor Classic Boot will also be released, and should be arriving in stores soon. Stay tuned for more release info. Hit the jump for additional pics.

Vegas Favorites - Breakfast: Rise & Shine

image

This is officially the first of a set of posts highlighting all of the local spots around Las Vegas that have kept my stomach happy during these past few years. Thank you.

This place is a little bit of a journey off the strip, but it will be well worth your trip if you enjoy quality steak and eggs. Rise and Shine has a menu filled with an amazing assortment of steak and egg dishes that are far from the average. Every time I eat here I try something different, and I have yet to be disappointed.

Black And Purple

image

Nike Air Trainer SC High (above image via Extra Butter)

It seems that there’s a recent trend of Nike giving the Black and Purple treatment to everyone’s favorite Retro silhouettes, in addition to some newer models. I have no idea who at Nike said, “You know what would make all these shoes even better? Purple.”

Hit the jump to see the barrage of recent Black and Purple releases from Nike.

Sneak Peak: The Nike SB Dunk Pro Book

image

With the anticipated release of Eric Koston’s first signature model, re-launch of a fresh new site, a great upcoming Spring and Fall lineup, and now this book, it seems as if Nike SB is really looking to start off the new decade with a bang. This book beautifully chronicles the beginnings and growth of the Nike SB Dunk Pro model through the years. However, only time will tell if the book will be available for purchase by the public or strictly be exclusive to friends and family.

Hit the jump for more images.

Big Mama's & Papa's Pizzeria, Las Vegas

image

Pizza in picture is larger than it appears.

Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria, home of the pizzas so big you need to bring them home in your trunk. True story. When I ordered, I guess I didn’t truly fathom how big a 28” or 36” pizza would be, so when we went to pick up our order in a Civic, I’m sure you can imagine the dilemma.

A Change of Pace: Produce Section 2.0

image

Food With Sole has always been devoted to helping out and improving the sneaker culture in any way possible. As was the case when we first launched the Produce Section a few months ago. However, unfortunately, we have come to the realization that the feature is just not as effective as we’d hoped. There are far too many better resources out there, many of whom we are friends with. So, we came to the obvious conclusion that the best alternative is to use the Produce Section, as just that. A place to showcase Produce, and leave it to the people who do it best. Think of it as our way to point you in the best direction for whatever Produce you may need. Enjoy.
